RADIO REPEATER

JME’s new Radio Repeater Unit allows an extension of communication between JME’s Remote Handset and the CR2 Pipeline Crawler while operating within a pipeline. The unit has two separate antennas – one for communicating with the Crawler (inside the pipe), and one for communicating with the Handset (outside the pipe). Internal circuitry forms a data-link between the two radio channels.

The handset can communicate directly with the Crawler while outside the pipe, or at the open-end of the pipe. The Repeater is used as a ‘bridge’ when there is no direct line-of-sight between the Handset and Crawler, or when operating the system in adverse weather conditions that can reduce the communication distance.

The typical operating range of the Repeater is approximately 2km outside the pipe, assuming there is a direct line-of-sight between the Handset and the Repeater. The maximum range inside the pipe is considerably greater, with no requirement for line-of-sight, the internal walls, even with curves and undulations, act as a waveguide. In situations where long-range operation is required, additional Repeaters can be installed to extend the operating distance.

THE NEW UPDATED DESIGN INCLUDES:

  • • Improved aesthetics Improved durability
  • • Suitable for all CR2 Crawler models
  • • Improved configurability
  • • Improved battery technology and capacity
  • • High rate charge
  • • Can be used as both Radio Extender and Repeater
