Standard Specimens – API Training & Qualifications

Our sets are available as either training/ practice sets or examination sets. In both cases the specimens are manufactured to API / EPRI requirements but:

Training / practice sets: Are supplied with ‘limited’ documentation – ultrasonic reports and CAD drawing to show the flaw details.
Examination sets: Comprehensive documentation package including photographs of flaws, material and welding consumable certification, flaw size statement, radiographs etc. exactly as supplied to API / EPRI for their qualification specimens.

Custom Specimens – ASME Section XI

Specimens are available for either training/ practice or qualification. In both cases the specimens are manufactured to Appendix VIIII / EPRI requirements but:

Training / practice specimens: Are supplied with ‘limited’ documentation ultrasonic reports and CAD drawing to show the flaw details.
Qualification specimens: Comprehensive documentation package including photographs of flaws, material and welding consumable certification, flaw size statement, radiographs etc. exactly as supplied to EPRI for the PDI qualification specimens.

Custom Specimens – Specialist Training & Qualification

As a minimum specimens are supplied with:

Flaw truth (type, size and location)
CAD drawing
Testing and acceptance criteria
Certificate of conformance

Standard Flawed Specimens – Advanced Flaw Evaluation

Sonaspection flawed specimens are available either individually or in sets.

Individual specimens are manufacture to Sonaspection drawings and specification:

Contain three different flaws randomly selected from the flaw table.
Are all different – no two specimens are made the same.
Are uniquely numbered.
Are supplied with NDE reports.
Are supplied with acceptance / rejection criteria.
Recommended sets :
Contain a selection of individual specimens as above, with an average of three flaws per specimen.
Contain at least one example of each flaw type listed in the flaw table.
Contain a minimum total weld length of 360cm (144”)
