<p>To maintain product quality it is important that every aspect of an inspection system is monitored regularly. ln particular the performance of an MPI system is dependent on a number of parameters, each of which must be within acceptable procedural limits.</p>
<p>Where magnetizing equipment is fitted with a timer to control shot duration, it must be calibrated on a regular basis, usually to an accuracy within 0.1sec.</p>
<h4><span style="color: #616161;"><strong>Advantages</strong></span></h4>

<p>Audit ST-1 displays the shot duration for current flow, coil and flux flow with selectable resolutions of either 0.1s or 0.02s. Additionally the magnetizing waveforms are indicated, “A”=AC, “H”=HWDC, “F”=FWDC.</p>
<h4><span style="color: #616161;"><strong>Easy to use&#8230; </strong></span></h4>
<p>Simply press the ON button and the instrument operates at the 0.1s resolution. Press and hold the ON button and it operates at the 0.02s resolution.</p>
<p>Audit ST-1 is held in-line with the magnetizing coil, or a current flow component and the shot performed and displays the shot duration and the waveform code as described.</p>
<p>Then briefly press the ON button to reset the instrument. Audit ST-1 will shut down automatically after 60s of inactivity.</p>
<h4><span style="color: #616161;"><strong>Versatile&#8230; </strong></span></h4>
<p>Audit ST-1 can also measure two successive shot times and the rest interval (up to a maximum of 4 seconds), on dual-shot equipment.</p>

<strong>The DEUTROMETER 3873 measures magnetic direct and alternating fields in the low-frequency range. <p>With nondestructive crack detection of magnetizable workpieces, the gauge is mainly used for the measurement of the tangential field strength during the magnetization and for the measurement of the residual field after the demagnetization.</p>
<p>In addition the DEUTROMETER can be used also as a flux density measuring instrument (Tesla meter).</p>
<p>During the magnetic particle crack detection, workpieces are magnetized by means of a current or a field flow.</p>
<p>For a secure indication of cracks a minimum magnetizing field strength must be reached in this case. After termination of the test cycle, the workpiece becomes demagnetized again and environmentally neutral.</p>
<p>In a quick and precise manner, the DEUTROMETER 3873 is capable of checking whether the required strength of the magnetizing field was reached and whether the residual field strength after demagnetization is below a limit.</p>
<p>Doing so, the instrument needs not to be toggled manually: The field detection of the instrument automatically selects the required operating mode.</p>
<p>The menu guidance is executed in comprehensible plain text. The illuminated display and the lettering which fluoresces under UV light permit safe and convenient operation of the instrument inside the darkened testing booth.</p>

<p>The 5100 Series Hall effect portable gaussmeters represent the most recent design from the world leader in magnetic measuring equipment. This new design incorporates the use of digital signal processing technology making it the world&#8217;s first hand.held gaussmeter to have a digital signal processor (DSP) on board. F.W Bell&#8217;sexclusive Dynamic Probe Connection allows measurements from 0 to 30 kG with a basic accuracy of 1%.</p>

<p align="left"><strong>MAGNETIC FLUX INDICATORS</strong></p>
<p>Surtest magnetic flux indicator strips are widely used to indicate the presence of induced magnetic fields during the magnetic particle inspection method for inspection of ferromagnetic materials. Flux Indicators give evidence of an external field in the air above the magnetised surface and in some circumstances can be used to obtain a semi-qualitative estimate of the tangential field strength H.</p>
<p align="left">Type 1 indicators are typically used for general engineering applications and Type 11 are used for aerospace applications. Both types consist of three laminations measuring SOx 12 mm which are fixed together to form a sandwich structure wh ich is nominally 0.15 mm thick. The outer lamination has 3 interruptions which are parallel to the long side, The width of these interruptions and the material of the outer laminations means that Type 1 indicators respond to a weaker field than Type 11 strips . Both types are protected by a polymeric layer and can be differentiated by the Roman numeral next to the Ely logo.</p>
<p>Flux Indicators have the advantage of being flexible enough so that they can be bent to fit the contours of a workpiece, but robust enough to enable them to be used many t imes. They may also be cut into smaller pieces to allow them to be fixed in recesses and otherwise inaccessible locations on the workpiece.</p>
<p><strong>METHOD OF USE</strong></p>
<p>Attach one flux indicator to a vertical surface of the workpiece under test so that it&#8217;s length is at right angles to the direction of the applied current and attach a second at right angles to the first. Magnetise the workpiece by the use of the same electric current wave form as will be used for the inspection and by the same technique.</p>
<p align="left">The magnetisation time will vary according to the self inductance of the workpiece, but should not be less than 3 seconds. While the workpiece is being magnetised apply magnetic particles. It is essential that the application of magnetic particles stops before the end of magnetisation.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>(1) <strong>Aluminium Quench Block</strong> provides a means by which penetrants may be checked for serviceability, comparison of contrast or to qualify its use outside the standard temperature range of 16-52 degrees Celsius.</p>
<p>(2) <strong>J001-J013 Transparent Comparators </strong>are used to assist inspectors significantly in assessing the importance of indications of discontinuities revealed by fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection. The comparators are strips of a convenient size (up to 25 x 130mm) with markings for a known size marked on them.</p>
<p>(3) <strong>Reference Test Block 1</strong> (also know as MTU 3), acc. to EN ISO 9934-2. It is a useful accessory for the determination of the magnetic powder concentration in the test liquid. It can be used for Wet Fluorescent or Visible Baths.</p>
<p>(4)<strong>Reference Test Block 2</strong>, acc to EN ISO 3452-3. It is used as a control test piece for both fluorescent and colour contrast process penetrant processes.</p>
<p>(5)<strong>Tam Panel 146040 (PSM 5) </strong>is a chromed stainless steel test piece that provides a quick means by which a penetrant inspection process can be checked for serviceability, whether it be visible or fluorescent, water washable or post emulsifiable. It verified that all elements of the process are functioning correctly. Any drastic change in the total process will be picked up and the danger of accepting a part with a dangerous flaw can be avoided.</p>
<p>6)<strong>Twin KDS Panels</strong><br />
A pair of nearly identical panels measuring 2 x 6 inches and 0.090 inches thick with matching crack patterns. Being rugged, Twin KDS Panels may be used to satisfy MIL-STD-6866 and ASTM E-1417 requirements for daily systems check. And, having matching cracks of known sizes, the panels may be used to compare penetrant performance.</p>
<p>(7)<strong>Wash Test Panels </strong>Monitors washability of water wash or post emulsified penetrants. May be used repeatedly if thoroughly cleaned after use. Complies with ASTM and MIL codes.</p>
