The PXB7.5M portable X-Ray Betatron is designed to produce high energy ionising radiation for industrial radiographic non-destructive testing.

The PXB7.5M contains no moving parts (excluding cooling fan) and no circulating liquids, radiation outside the main beam are low, so safe working distances are moderate. After demarcation of dose rate boundaries, the betatron may be used at external sites or in fabrication workshops with little or no additional screening.

The PXB7.5M produces radiographs of very high contrast, sensitivity and resolution. Half Value Layer (HVL) STEEL: 32mm

The PXB7.5M is recommended for radiographic testing of weld joints and castings with a steel thickness of 50 to 300mm, concrete and other materials from 200 to 1200mm.

The irradiation field equals 250mm x 250mm @ 1M focal distance. In operation the PXB7.5M has no need for compensating filters that improves the uniformity of the radiation field.

The PXB7.5M is far less costly than other NDT accelerators such as ‘Linacs’.

The PXB7.5M can replace cobalt isotope gamma sources which may not give acceptable quality and require costly periodic replenishment.

Compared to cobalt, the Betatron’s shot time is drastically reduced and the extremely small focal spot size provides a sharper, higher quality radiograph, thus increasing production rate and profit.

APPLICATIONS:

JME’s range of Betatron systems have been supplied for a wide variety of applications within many sectors of the NDT industry. Examples of the work we have previously supplied systems for include but are not limited to the inspection of Large forgings, castings, valves, beams, ships hulls, pressure vessels, engine blocks, thick welds, composites, reinforced concrete buildings, bridges and cargo/security scanning solutions.

JME’s New wireless Betatron system is available in both 6 and 7.5MeV versions. These systems have been designed to function with both the conventional wired control panel and the innovative new wireless handset. Coupled with a JME Radio Repeater the user can now operate the system from a range of up to 1,7KM. This has improved safety and allows the Betatron to be used in a greater range of inspection applications.

JME BETATRON REMOTE HANDSET

The handset allows the user to wirelessly configure the system prior operation. It also provides the user with real time feedback on the status/operation of the system whilst in use. The operator can review and adjust parameters which are key to operation, including the output of the system, exposure time, and both real time and accumulated dose rates. With safety at the forefront of design, the user has continuous access to an emergency stop feature, and in the unlikely event communication is lost, the system will stop any exposure being carried out. The handset provides a simple and intuitive graphical interface along with a LED notification of the X-Ray status giving the user an easy reference point for the current system activity.

JME CONTROL PANEL

JME’s New touchscreen control panel offers numerous improvements over the previous generation. It incorporates a data logging facility, allowing trained service personnel to interpret the historical parameters and usage of the unit. The built-in wireless connectivity allows connection to the handset, secured via 128 bit encryption, ensuring security of the system is maintained at all times. The user interface has been re-designed, making it more intuitive for the operator, there is also an increased amount of parameters which can be adjusted. Software updates are supplied by JME, these can be downloaded and installed via USB stick, ensuring the system remains futureproof.

JME RADIO REPEATER

JME’s radio repeater increases the operating range of the radio link between the handset and control panel. Maintaining the secure 128 bit encryption, the radio repeater can increase the communication range by up to 1.2KM (To 1,7KM as standard). The Repeater can be attached to any ferromagnetic surface using the built-in magnet, the units are rechargeable and feature a long life lithium-ion battery.

JME would like to present our newest product, the DXB:1 Digital X-Ray Buggy; designed to produce high-quality panoramic digital radiographs of circumferential welds in applications such as new pipelines. As a versatile and configurable system, it can also be utilised for use in various non-pipeline applications, such as the inspection of tank walls or other ferrous metal structures.

This digital system is a replacement for traditional film radiography; so no more chemical processing, dark rooms, or flaws associated with conventional radiography. The DXB includes a high-definition digital panel for instant verification of image quality and system settings. Images are digitally stored, preventing the need for film storage and enabling a permanent record to be saved within the control tablet. These can be backed up via USB or using a Network connection, allowing the images to be sent to an on-site Radiographer seconds from acquisition.

JME’s DXB system also communicates and integrates with our entire CR2 Pipeline Crawler Range. This allows 2-way communication between the Pipeline Crawler and DXB, giving configuration of key crawler parameters from the DXB control tablet. This integration also allows commencement of inspection with the push of a single button. The DXB operator is able to control, adjust and view the status of the CR2 crawler at all times during an inspection task.

With a rapid magnetic deployment system, the DXB:1 can be positioned by a single person in less than a minute. The system is attached using full time magnets, meaning in the event of a loss of power the unit will remain firmly attached to the pipe. This quick and efficient deployment dramatically increases productivity on-site. There is no need for welding bands to be deployed and relocated between each inspection which again greatly improves efficiency on-site.,

Comet Technologies Denmark A/S LAUNCHES THE PXS EVO SERIES

Comet Technologies Denmark A/S heralds a new era of smarter workflows for your portable X-ray applications, with the global launch of the PXS EVO series.

Comet Technologies Denmark A/S has developed the new PXS EVO industrial X-ray system. Built in Denmark to stringent specifications with the highest quality components, the products are both built to last and operate accurately even in the harshest environments.

You can find more information on the technical aspects and details of the PXS EVO series on the website: xray.comet.tech.

Non-destructive testing (NDT) affects us all. Everything from planes to pipelines are inspected daily to ensure our safety, but the development of portable X-ray inspection systems has been stagnant for years, and a growing demand for modern technology within the NDT community has given rise to the PXS EVO project. The system integrates X-ray inspection with advanced technologies and is a giant leap forward ensuring high performance, making inspection smarter and our environment safer.

“X-ray technology generates the best image result of all NDT technologies. The challenge for portable X-ray equipment, however, is to be both small enough to allow agile handling on site, while still being able to penetrate material of significant thickness. This was a major challenge and we succeeded in addressing it with the development of the new PXS EVO series,” explains Hans Rysgaard, General Manager at Comet Technologies Denmark A/S.
