<h4>Eddy Current Testing with Sensor Arrays</h4>

<p>If large areas are to be scanned, conventional eddy current testing can be very time-consuming. In addition, there is a risk of unchecked areas due to the manual probe guidance. The ECA module can be used to operate large and shape-matched array probes. This allows large areas to be scanned quickly and without unchecked areas.</p>
<p>Array probes consist of several individual sensors, which are arranged e.g. in a row in a housing. In this way, an area can be scanned with several probes. The resolution of a single probe is still achieved.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>New Generation Portable Meter for Measuring the Electrical Conductivity of Non-Ferromagnetic Metals</strong></p>
<h4>Precise and reliable conductivity measurement</h4>
<div class="text text-float list-checked">
<p>Conductivity measurement determines physical and technical material properties. The SIGMATEST is used for quality control of manufactured products as well as for testing material compositions as well as for sorting metals, alloys and scrap. Other areas of application include the maintenance of aircraft for the determination of heat damage and in the metal industry for process control in production.</p>
<p>The SIGMATEST module is used with special conductivity probes. These are adjusted to traceable conductivity standards (PTB/NIST or NPL) at 20 °C in the FOERSTER calibration laboratory. The data of the adjustment are stored on the sensor and are retrieved by the TCM. This enables an exact conductivity measurement.</p>
<p>The single measurement is triggered by touch. If a scan of the surface is required, measured values can be continuously output and displayed in a time diagram.</p>

<p>The <strong>MAGNATEST TCL</strong> is designed to carry out fully automated, non-destructive eddy current testing for 100% inspection in series production. In addition, it can be used for manual testing, e.g. in a laboratory for quality assurance. The MAGNATEST TCL test system consists of the test channel line (TCL) and a PC with testing software. For automated inspection, FOERSTER offers an industrial PC equipped with an interface module.</p>
<p>All the constituent parts of the MAGNATEST TCL can be installed in an equipment cabinet. Alternatively, its compact design allows installation directly in the line. This significantly shortens the cable lengths required between the sensor system and the test channel and minimizes negative impacts on the test quality. The modern software of the TCL test system is intuitive and optimized for touch operation. Embedded help screens are always available if questions come up. In addition, there is a wizard to support you in setting up the test parameters, but it is not mandatory to use it.</p>
<p>In addition to a wide frequency range (4 Hz to 20 MHz), the MAGNATEST TCL features fundamental and harmonic evaluation. The test can be triggered manually, externally by the PLC, or automatically (internally). Password protection prevents outside intervention in the test.In test mode, the results are displayed in the impedance plane and as a bar graph. Afterwards, the report function facilitates comprehensive documentation.</p>

<p>The SIGMATEST 2.070 is a portable eddy current instrument which measures the electrical conductivity of non-ferromagnetic metals based on the complex impedance of the measuring probe. The measuring range for the instrument is established by calibration.</p>
<p>When unknown test pieces are measured, the instrument converts the complex impedance value to an electrical conductivity value. The electrical conductivity value is indicated on the instrument’s LCD display.</p>

										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Determination of depth and orientation of surface cracks<br />
</strong>Our new crack depth gauge RMG 4015 measures crack depths on workpieces of iron, ferrous and austenitic steels and can also be used for cracks in copper, brass, aluminium and other non-ferrous metals. For the measurement of oblique cracks a special oblique cracks probe is available.</p>
<p><strong>Measurement according to the potential probe principal</strong><br />
A probe with four spring-loaded and gilded contact pins is positioned across the crack to be measured on the workpiece. A constant alternating current is passed via two of the pins into the workpiece; the two other pins measure the voltage drop across the crack, where the crack depth is derived from. The a.c. of the instrument utilizes the skin effect, which forces the current flow to the surface of the conductor and therefore follows the contour of the crack. The operation and measured value formation are monitored by the microprocessor of the gauge. Incorrect handling or faulty measurements caused by wrong attachment or imperfect contacts therefore are out of question.</p>
<p><strong> Measurement of oblique cracks </strong><br />
In addition to common cracks running in most cases perpendicularly to the surface, the real life often shows oblique cracks, where usually it is not the expansion of the cracks which is of interest, but the oblique orientation and the projection with reference to the surface. If you know these measures it can be decided whether the post-treatment of a workpiece with cracks is technically possibly and economically reasonable. Therefore the instrument was equipped with an additional measuring function for the determination of oblique cracks, which permits to determine the inclination of the crack with respect to the material surface.<br />
The measurement is executed by means of an special four-pin probe, which permits to connect an external current pole which can be positioned left and alternatively right to the crack. Via the differences of the readings and the crack depth measured as well, the meter reliably will determine the inclination and the projection perpendicularly to the surface. Measurement is possible on all common magnetic and non-magnetic steels, with certain restrictions also on many non-iron metals. Thus the new pocket-sized instrument for crack measurement may be used universally for all types of naturally occurring cracks.</p>
<p><strong>Interface for printing and connection to a PC </strong><br />
Via the RS232 interface, test reports can be printed on small-sized printer (available as accessory) or the instrument can communicate with a PC. For this purpose, the PC program iCom is available, which not only acquires the measured values, but also offers data administration and graphical display. Furthermore, test reports or other documentations can be created.</p>
